"I’ve had State Farm since I started driving. Recently purchased a house with homeowners insurance through State Farm and 10 days after closing, we were notified that they are dropping our homeowner’s insurance coverage. Horrible experience which is now triggering myself and entire family to leave State Farm after decades of business with them."
"McKenzie, I’m sorry for your experience with State Farm and the underwriting requirements for homeowners. Home claims have been up significantly the last few years so ALL insurance companies not just State Farm have tightened their underwriting requirements, especially when it comes to roof condition. If a roof is need of replacement or showing major wear most insurance companies will now require repair or replacement in order to be eligible. Being proactive with underwriting helps keep rates down by preventing increased claims. I just had to replace my own roof because they it was showing wear as well. I understand how frustrating this can be. As an agent we don’t want to lose your business either. These decisions are made in the underwriting department, not in our office. "My State Farm agent of more than 35 years retired a few years ago and all 5 of my insurance policies were transferred to the Courtney Rogers agency. Other than for policy renewal notices, I didn’t hear from them until a few weeks ago when I received a text from one of Courtney's assistants telling me that my home was underinsured by nearly 60% and that I could/should increase my coverage, which would raise my premium by almost 50%. I was surprised to learn of the coverage gap and asked the assistant to give me more information about how he determined the replacement value of my home. He responded with vague and inconsistent information and after a half dozen text exchanges, he stopped responding at all. I scheduled a call with Courtney for the following week to talk about my homeowners coverage but he never called. When I called his office about 45 minutes after the scheduled time I was told that he was in a meeting with his manager. I can understand that a meeting with his boss preempted his meeting with me but I can't understand why no one from his office called to cancel or reschedule my meeting. I said this to someone on his office staff and was told they'd pass my concern onto Courtney. I still haven't heard from him. If this is the way Courtney and his team interact with me when they are trying to sell me greater coverage, I can't imagine how they'd be if I ever filed a claim. After the contact by Courtney's office, I tried several different ways to reevaluate the replacement cost of my home, including using State Farm's own model, and all showed that my home was underinsured by about 5% .... not 60%."

Our goal is always to provide clear communication and helpful guidance, and I’m sorry we fell short in your case. To clarify a few points — you were initially scheduled to speak with one of my licensed team members. Once your policy transferred out of our office, we weren’t able to see your full contact details, which limited our ability to follow up directly after that conversation. As for the increase in your home’s replacement cost estimate: when we reviewed your policy, we noticed that an electronic replacement cost estimator hadn’t been completed previously. Our office ran one using State Farm’s updated tool, which pulls construction data from current industry indexes based on your specific zip code. That’s likely why the new estimate was significantly higher — it reflects today’s real-world rebuild costs, not the outdated numbers. That said, we always want to make sure you understand and feel confident in any recommendation we make.
